Chad’s Diet Progress

I started The Hacker’s Diet weighing in at an unhealthy 274.5 lbs.

  • My goal is to weigh 225 on August 1st. That’s a long, long way to go.
  • [Edit 4/3/2007: I'm making such good progress that I've moved my 225 deadline up to July 1st!]
  • [Edit 6/12/2007: Beat the heck out of that goal by 18 days. Final goal of 194 by October 1st is in effect.]
  • [Edit 10/2/2007: Okay, October 1 was slightly too aggressive. No big deal. I'm very nearly there and will meet my goal long before Halloween!
  • [Edit 12/4/2007] Damn it. The holidays are rough. I’ll make it… eventually…

Last Two Weeks

The blue dots are my daily weight measurements, the red line is my trend line, which is closer to my true weight if you were to average it throughout the day. As long as the blue dots stay below the red line, I’m doing well. Otherwise, I’m gaining weight. That green line is my goal. Once I get the red line across the green line, then I’ve successfully beaten back the fat monster, and there will be much rejoicing. Perhaps we’ll eat Robin’s Minstrels. (yay.)
Putting this up publicly, I imagine that you’re checking my progress, and am therefore obligated to keep at it.

Milestones:

  • January 2007
    • 29 — Started Hacker’s Diet at 274.5 lbs
  • February 2007
    • 16 — 10 Pounds (19 Days) by scale, but only 6.1 lbs on trend line
    • 17 — First Day with new scale – it adds 2.5 lbs, oh well.
    • 27 — Jeans FELL OFF (at home), dug out old jeans, which fit again.
  • March 2007
    • 2 — 10.2 lbs (34 days) by trend line, 14.1 lbs by scale.
    • 5 — 15.3 lbs (36 days) by scale, but only 11.5 on trend line.
    • 13 – 17 — Vacation, so weights are estimated, and I gained a bit.
    • 14 — 15.3 lbs (45 days) by trend line, 18.5 by scale.
    • 20 — 20.9 lbs (52 days) by scale, 16.7 by trend line.
    • 28 — 20.0 lbs (59 days) by trend line, 25.3 by scale. For the first time in a very long time, I weigh less than 250 lbs.
  • April 2007
    • 3 — Moved my primary goal of 225 up to July 1st, and publicly reveal my true goal of 194 by mid-November.
    • 9 — 25.0 lbs (71 days) by trend line, 28.3 by scale.
    • 11 — 32.5 lbs (74 days) by scale, 26.1 by trend line. Holy Crap. I’ve lost 30 pounds.
    • 22 — 30 lbs (84 days) by trend line, 34.3 by scale.
    • 24 — 35.3 lbs (86 days) by scale, 31.1 by trend line. Things are getting serious.
  • May 2007
    • 3 — 35.1 lbs (95 days) by trend line, 38.7 by scale. I can smell my initial goal of 225 pounds, a scant 10.8 pounds away.
    • 7 — 40.1 lbs (99 days) by scale, 36.5 by trend line.
    • 17 — 40.3 lbs (109 days) by trend line, 44.3 by scale. Official half-way point. Went to see the doctor to make sure I am doing this right, who approved.
    • 22 — 45.5 lbs (114 days) by scale, 42.2 by trend line.
    • 30 — 45.1 lbs (123 days) by trend line, 48.9 by scale. By my current calculations, I will reach my primary goal on June 11th and my final goal near the beginning of September.
  • June 2007
    • 1 — I’ve lost 20% of my total pre-diet body weight. I’ve brought my BMI down over six points. I noticed those two things today and decided to add them to my list. 124 days down, an estimated 98 to go.
    • 4 — 51.9 lbs (127 days) by scale, 46.9 by trend line.
    • 12 — 49.6 lbs (135 days) by trend line, 52.3 lbs by scale, but below 225, my primary goal. Further, I did it 19 days early. Final drive for below 200 commencing. No rest for the weary; no food for the hungry.
    • 13 — 50.0 lbs (136 days) by trend line, 53.7 by scale.
    • 17 — 55.7 lbs (140 days) by scale, 52.2 by trend line.
    • 29 — 55.0 lbs (152 days) by trend line, 57.1 by scale. This plateau is a rough one.
  • July 2007
    • 10 — 60.3 lbs (163 days) by scale, 57.4 by trend line. The going is very rough, might have to readjust my time tables.
    • 20 — 60.0 lbs (173 days) by trend line, 63.1 by the scales. I’ve achieved 75% of my final goal.
    • 25 — 19 lbs remain.
    • 28 — 65.1 lbs (181 days) by scale, 62.1 by trend line.
    • 30 — 18 lbs remain.
  • August 2007

    • 2 — 17 lbs remain.
    • 7 — 16 lbs remain.
    • 8 — 65.1 lbs (192 days) by trend line, 68.5 lbs by scale.
    • 10 — 15 lbs remain.
    • 15 — 14 lbs remain.
    • 23 — 70.1 lbs (207 days) by scale, 66.5 by trend line. 13 lbs remain.
    • 25 — 12 lbs remain.
    • 28 — 11 lbs remain.
    • 30 — 70.3 lbs (214 days) by trend, 73.5 by scale. It’s going to be close to make it by October 1, but I’m sure it will be no later than mid-October.
    • 31 — 10 lbs remain. Oh, and I now weigh below 200 on the scale. )
  • September
    • 3 — 9 lbs remain.
    • 9 — 8 lbs remain.
    • 13 — 7 lbs remain. Starting to realize that despite my stellar progress, my goal of October 1 might have been a tad too aggressive to be realistic. I’m going to get close, and that’s what’s important.
    • 16 — 6 lbs remain. By the trend line, I officially weigh 200 lbs. This is my last mile marker before my goal. I can see home from here! (My toes, too!)
    • 20 — 75.0 lbs (235 days) by trend line, 76.9 by the scale. 5.5 lbs remain.
    • 25 — 80.1 lbs (241 days) by scale, 75.5 by trend line. 5 lbs remain.
    • 29 — 4 lbs remain.
  • October
    • 6 — 3 lbs remain.
    • 18 — The scale said 194.0 for the first time ever. 263 days into my diet, the scale finally says my target weight, 80.5 pounds from where I started. I still have some work to do to officially meet my goal, as according to my trend line, I still have 2.6 lbs to go.
  • November
    • Hazy, heady time with lots and lots of eating
  • December
    • 4 — Holy crap. 7 pounds to go. Sigh.
    • 12 — 6 pounds to go.
